Fridge & Freezer

You don't have to have a refrigerator brimming with all sort of food. Just go for the basics. These items will do double-duty in many recipes. And with the exception of milk, they will last a good long time.

Fridge
eggs
butter - please, please buy real butter for cooking. If you must have one of those low-cal "butter-like"spreads for toast & bagels, go ahead and get some. But, be warned: the fake stuff doesn't work the same way  in cooking as the real thing. For cooking and baking real butter is a must.
parmesan cheese - I recommend a nice wedge of parm rather than the pre-shredded variety
skim milk
maple syrup - the real stuff!
onions
garlic
lemon
ketchup
dijon mustard

Freezer
frozen pizza dough
bags of your favorite veggies - peas, corn, etc
bags of your favorite fruits: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
small bag of King Arthur Whole Wheat Flour
